Love that sweet soda pop

Mmm, mmm, mmm! Love me some sweet sweet soda pop. How many of you dig your pop? I know I do and when there is no beer or bottles of water I go for an ice cold pop. My favorites are Pepsi, Coke, 7up, Sprite, and others but no diets. I can't stand the after taste but if there is nothing left in the machine I will take what is there. Back when I lived in Florida and worked at the Frostproof Police Department as a dispatcher, I would drink 3 to 4 pops in an 8 hour shift. I wasn't drinking much water there and eventually it took its toll on me. The area where my kidney's are located began to hurt and I finally broke down and went to the doctor. She told me I needed to cut my pop consumption in half and limit my intake to light colored soda only because whatever it was that was in dark colored sodas made it stronger and I was beginning to develop kidney stones. She put me on some meds and sent me home. Ever since then I have tried to limit my soda intake but it's hard, really hard. My wife recently found some information for me and it's crazy. Whats more crazy is the sweetener in diet sodas. From what I have read sugar intake effects your immune system. One can of pop can destroy your immune system for up to 5 hours within 45 minutes after drinking it. So if you get sick easily and you drink a lot of soda you now know why. An over consumption of soda or simply sugar in general can lead to hypoglycemia, diabetes, heart disease, chronic tiredness, and chronic fatigue. Here I thought I was not getting enough sleep so I would drink pop in order to wake me up but it's doing the opposite. When it comes to diet soda a study has found that an over consumption of it may raise a risk involving strokes and heart attacks.

I would like to mention a little bit about the sweetener that is used in diet soda and possibly all soda for that matter. Have you ever heard of Aspartame? I would hope so if you drink diet soda, but I do want to make something clear to everyone. I do not claim to know all the facts on this and I am only providing information on what I have read. Believe what you want to believe and I am only putting it out there because it's interesting. I still drink pop so I'm not stepping onto my soap box and saying don't drink pop because that would just make me a hypocrite. I drink pop when I shouldn't because of past problems with my kidneys. This is my own thing and I can make my own decisions just like you. So here's a quick quote, "A few of the 90 different documented symptoms listed in the report as being caused by aspartame include: Headaches/migraines, dizziness, seizures, nausea, numbness, muscle spasms, weight gain, rashes, depression, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia, insomnia, vision problems, hearing loss, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, loss of taste, tinnitus, vertigo, memory loss, and joint pain." That's pretty crazy if you ask me. I know the FDA has approved it and said that it's safe for us but so is the meat they have approved and we all know how much bad meat goes around. Oh well, check out the links and do your own homework on it. Cheers!
