The Google+ Project

Ahoy hoy fellow Jabber Loggers! I just wanted to post something real quick about Google+. If you have not heard yet, Google has created their own social network. I know you're probably thinking, "not another one", but this looks promising. The interface is nice and somewhat similar but has some very good features. The other day the head of Facebook announced that they had partnered up with Skype to bring video chat to the masses within Facebook. Sounds good and dandy but if you ever used Skype in the past you know that the quality wasn't that great. Hopefully they have added a little something more in order to compete with the features of Google+. Within Google's social network they provide "Circles". They can be customized to your liking and you can separate family, friends, co-workers, etc. When you post something you can designate who you want to see this. You can also break up your streams of information and only view friends, or family, etc. The next feature is called "Hangouts". This involves video chat and you can bring in multiple people at one time and you can even view YouTube videos all at once. Next is a feature called "Sparks" where you are fed articles, videos, etc. on stuff that you are into. It sounds weird but I will provide a couple of videos so that you can see for yourself. Everything seems awesome so far and I would think that the people over at Facebook have to be slightly worried about this. Google+ has a long way to go to reach 750 million members but if they can deliver they will be excellent competition for Facebook. Have a good night and if you would like an invite drop me a line with your email address. Cheers!
