Protect and serve in any climate
Allegan, Mich. - West Michigan has recently been hit by a heat wave. Mlive.com reported that, “After a string of scorching days, the National Weather Service is reporting the average high so far this month at 96 degrees.” With that average it has been hard to do anything, but even in a limited capacity, the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit continued to train as normal. The K-9 Unit of Allegan County, according to allegancounty.org, states that, “The K-9 Unit is comprised of four dogs and their K-9 handler Deputies.“ “Each K-9 is of Bosnian decent,” said K-9 Unit Deputy Dave Holmes in a recent interview with Jabber Log, he added that, “Each deputy trains at least 200 hours together before going out on the road and up to about 20 hours of training each week after the initial portion.” The training is made evident within the following images. It shows that despite the blistering temperatures, the unit continues to train to protect and serve. (images can also be found on Flickr)
