Humble Pie
“ There’s a very strong side to me that demands so much, but then there’s a strong side that gives so much. Those that are loyal, understanding, determined – focused, they get it and they get me.” - Chef Gordon J. Ramsay
My Papa meant the world to me, he taught me the fundamentals of cooking. At a very young age I was exposed to flavors and recipes; taste buds and curiosity. I am a married 31 year old female, who has served the public as a Telecommunicator for a total of 13 years. I do not have any children, I am a mother of two amazing, rescued senior dogs who are both 16 years old! I am a nerd, and not too shy to admit that! I love music and movies – specifically anything MARVEL and Thor related. I was raised by a single mom who had to be both parents, and she did the very best that she could. We may not have always had everything we wanted or needed, but there was never a shortage on love.
I am a Communications Training Officer and I am passionate about teaching others. I am protective over the career field that has chosen me, because there isn’t anything else like it in the entire world. Every single day is different and the potential to be someone’s hero presents itself every time we all log in to our consoles. Being a part of something so vital – where every decision literally means life or death – changes you as a person right down to your soul. Every time 911 calls are answered, it’s like call roulette. We never know what is on the other side of that line, and at that moment the world could be ending. Every single call for service is answered by US. We are the FIRST first responder on scene who gathers as much information as possible, and then tone out the appropriate agencies. Our coworkers are our extended family members and we are protective over the safety of each and every one of them.
My love, drive, and passion for this profession is mirrored in my first love, the love shown to me by my Papa, in his cooking. Cooking and creating have become more than just a hobby for me. I began to really become interested in techniques and skills when I started noticing Chefs on any tv show I could watch. I watched anyone that had something interesting and I was always a fan of Iron Chef America because it allowed a fresh face and so many new ingredients. Chef Gordon Ramsay has always been interesting to me, because he is determined and he is a beast. Over the years I have become a dedicated fan of Chef Ramsay’s. I have studied him and watched his career blossom into something spectacular. I respect and admire Chef Ramsay deeply and I aspire to work with him, at some point. Back on September 22nd 2018 my husband and I drove to Chicago so that I could audition for MasterChef and take one step closer to the master himself. My experience was pleasant, but it was a reality check as far as all of the things that I don’t yet know or understand. Since that audition I have enrolled in both of Chef Ramsay’s Masterclasses and I am currently expanding my knowledge from the legend himself. Life is too short to not chase your dreams and take a chance on yourself.
