I heard the phone hit the floor and your desperate footsteps. You called me because you couldn't find your toddler. I asked if you had a pool. You will never know that as I braced for your scream, and prayed for it not to be, I was already swallowing the lump in my throat. Because it was my second drowning call of the day.
