Application Process

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must complete and submit the scholarship application, a 1,000 word essay and provide a current resume to wttpodcast@gmail.com. Applications will be accepted starting March 1st, 2019 through April 1, 2019.

Where Do I Apply?

The application form can be found here.

Elements of the Application Process

A 1,000-word essay is required to be turned in with the scholarship application. This essay will tell your 9-1-1 story and should answer the following questions;

  • How did you get into dispatching?

  • What phone call made a significant change in your life?

  • Why do you want to go to the APCO Conference?

  • How will you use what you learned at the conference to give back to the dispatch community?

Why 1,000 words you ask? I want to give each applicant an opportunity to be as clear and concise as possible. The essay must also be free of grammatical errors. This is an important part of the process so let's be professional. Remember that this essay must be turned in along with your resume. The application can be done online but the resume and essay must be sent together to wttpodcast@gmail.com.

How is the Scholarship Awarded?

A small scholarship selection committee will be formed in order to look over each applicant's registration form, resume and essay. After each applicant has been reviewed a vote will take place to see who will be awarded the scholarship. Take note that the scholarship selection committee may favor those who have never attended a national conference.

Privacy

The privacy of each scholarship applicant is very important to us. Your information will not be shared with any third parties, and will only be reviewed by the scholarship committee.
